At Sloop Concurrent, we offer chimney camera inspections alongside chimney cleaning. We consider this an important inspection that helps you use your fireplace safely. An inspection can investigate problems that are difficult to detect from the outside, assess the structural condition of your chimney or check for a suspected blockage. Even if there are no apparent problems, an annual camera inspection is recommended to help prevent them.
Chimney inspection costs
During a chimney inspection, our chimney sweep inserts a camera into the chimney. This lets us check whether the masonry is intact and identify gaps or cracks that are difficult or impossible to see from outside. We also check that the chimney is clean and free of creosote.
An extensive camera inspection by Sloop-Concurrent costs €180. For this price, our chimney sweep also goes onto the roof to inspect the outside of your chimney thoroughly, and the chimney is of course cleaned properly. You also receive an inspection report and digital recordings of the inspection.

Chimney inspection and insurance
In the Netherlands, there is no legal requirement to have your chimney swept once a year. Insurers often do not specify this in detail either; policies frequently state only that the chimney must be properly maintained. However, an insurer may refuse to pay out after a chimney fire, for example, if there is doubt about whether the chimney has been maintained properly. That is why Sloop Concurrent gives you a certificate when we sweep your chimney, so you can always demonstrate that you have met the maintenance requirement. If you have problems with your chimney, or have bought a new home and are unsure of its condition, we always recommend a camera inspection. The inspection report and camera footage we send you then provide reassurance that you have done everything you can to use your fireplace safely and responsibly.

Why have a chimney inspected?
It is important to have your chimney checked annually for cracks, gaps and its structural condition. It is also important to know that the chimney is clean and free from a combustible layer of creosote. An annual inspection also meets your insurer's requirement for proper chimney maintenance. The inspection report we provide serves as evidence of this. We also regularly carry out camera inspections when there is reason to suspect a bird's nest in a chimney. This allows us to see whether a nest is present and whether a bird is nesting in it. If a bird is nesting in your chimney, you may not remove the nest, as this would breach the Dutch Nature Conservation Act. Once the nesting season is over, the nest may be removed.

We hold CAR insurance, or Construction All Risks insurance, covering material damage arising during the construction or installation of buildings, roads, bridges and systems. We have never had to make a claim on this insurance, but we prefer to be on the safe side.
Sloop Concurrent is also an accredited training company, training the skilled tradespeople of the future. All our demolition workers are trained in-house, and we do not subcontract our work. This is reflected both in the total cost and in the final result.
Asbestos must always be considered when demolishing structures. We therefore hold dNAA certification, which allows us to remove asbestos. We do so safely and responsibly.
